Like Minds centres on Alex Forbes, a wealthy student at the private boys' school run by his father. When Nigel Colbie, his troubled roommate, is found dead, Alex becomes the suspect. With the evidence against him inconclusive, forensic psychologist Sally Rowe is brought in to assess whether the teenager can be held responsible for the killing. What begins as an evaluation turns into a contest of wills, as Sally uncovers a tangle of secrets and mental games between the two boys — and signs that Nigel's hold over Alex did not end with his death.
Gregory J. Read directed and wrote the film, which was produced by Jonathan Shteinman, Carol Hughes and Piers Tempest, and made by companies in Australia and the United Kingdom on a budget of about 8 million dollars. Eddie Redmayne plays Alex and Tom Sturridge plays Nigel, with Toni Collette as Sally, Richard Roxburgh as McKenzie, Kate Maberly as Susan Mueller and Jonathan Overton as Josh.
The film runs 110 minutes and mixes crime, horror, mystery and thriller elements. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.4 out of 10 from 132 votes, a modest but steady level of approval from those who have seen it.
