V/H/S/2

Two private detectives break into a house looking for a missing college student and find a collection of VHS tapes. The tapes hold disturbing footage, and watching them proves dangerous. Among the recordings are home videos depicting a zombie outbreak, a dangerous cult, and an alien invasion. The film is an anthology, with segments directed by Simon Barrett, Adam Wingard, Eduardo Sánchez, Gregg Hale, Gareth Evans, Timo Tjahjanto and Jason Eisener, from a screenplay by Jamie Nash, Barrett and Eisener. It is a sequel to V/H/S (2012), and Wingard and Eisener were among the directors of that first film. Barrett and Wingard both appear on screen, alongside Lawrence Michael Levine, Kelsy Abbott, L.C. Holt and Mindy Robinson in the frame story.

For Sánchez, an experienced hand in found-footage horror, the film followed Lovely Molly (2011) in his directing credits. Evans came to it directly after The Raid (2012), and Tjahjanto after Merantau (2009) and The Raid (2012). Barrett made his directing debut here and would go on to V/H/S/94 (2021) and Seance (2021).

On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around 48,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.2 out of 10 from roughly 1,200 votes. A critics' rating of 6.2 out of 10 from 66 reviews places it close to those audience scores, with neither group strongly favouring the anthology's mix of horror, science fiction and thriller.
