Jacques Laurent is a filmmaker who gained recognition in the 1970s for bringing an artistic and counter-cultural approach to adult cinema. After a long hiatus, financial difficulties force him back into the industry, where his desire for emotional expression clashes with the commercial demands of his producer. Parallel to his professional return, Jacques attempts to reconcile with his son, Joseph. The two had been estranged since Joseph discovered the nature of his father's work, but they reconnect as the son explores political activism and the father seeks personal renewal.
The film was written and directed by Bertrand Bonello, marking the first entry in a career that includes later works such as Tiresia and The Beast. The cast features Jean-Pierre Léaud in the lead role alongside Jérémie Renier and Dominique Blanc. This drama is a joint production between Canada and France from Haut et Court and In Extremis Images. It has received a moderate reception from viewers, holding a 5.1 rating on IMDb based on 2,800 votes and a matching 5.1 rating on TMDB from 82 votes.
