Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins

Buzz Lightyear of Star Command: The Adventure Begins is a 2000 animated action-adventure film in which the space ranger Buzz Lightyear takes on the evil Emperor Zurg, who is threatening the galaxy and has invaded the home planet of the Little Green Men. Buzz sets out with a team of eager new recruits who insist on joining him as his partners, and their mission is to stop Zurg and save the universe.

The film is a spin-off of the Toy Story series, presenting Buzz's own intergalactic adventure as an animated feature. It was directed by Tad Stones, whose other credits include The Return of Jafar (1994) and Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996), both made before this film, as well as Atlantis: Milo's Return (2003), released afterward. The screenplay is by Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley and Bill Motz, and Stones produced with McCorkle and Schooley. Tim Allen voices Buzz, joined by Nicole Sullivan as Mira Nova, Stephen Furst as Booster, Larry Miller as XR, Adam Carolla as Commander Nebula and Patrick Warburton as the Little Green Men.

Running about seventy minutes, this made-for-television release appeared on home video in August 2000 and was produced by Walt Disney Pictures, Pixar, Disney Television Animation and Walt Disney Home Video, with production spanning the United States and Japan. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.2 from around 6,000 votes, and on TMDB a rating of 6.4 from roughly 340 votes.
