Milly: Queen of Merengue

This musical drama follows the life of Milly Quezada, a Dominican singer known as the Queen of Merengue. After fleeing the civil war of 1965 in her home country, she moves to New York City as a child. The story tracks her efforts to establish herself within the growing Latino immigrant community of Washington Heights. Through her musical development, she becomes one of the few women to achieve prominence during the Latin Boom of the 1970s, alongside artists such as La Lupe and Celia Cruz.

The film was directed by Leticia Tonos, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Junior Rosario. This production is the second film directed by Tonos, following Aire: Just Breathe in 2024. Produced by Producciones Linea Espiral in the Dominican Republic, the movie features a cast including Sandy Hernández in the title role, along with Juan Carlos Pichardo Jr., Raidher Díaz, Jalsen Santana, and Nicole Padrón. The film has a runtime of 118 minutes and was released on January 28, 2026.
