Assassination Tango

A professional hit man named John J. Anderson travels to Argentina to kill a corrupt general. When the target's arrival is delayed, Anderson spends his time in Buenos Aires with Manuela, a dancer who introduces him to the world of tango. While he enjoys this new connection, he remains burdened by the knowledge that he must eventually complete his lethal assignment.

The film was written and directed by Robert Duvall, marking the second of three films he directed, following The Apostle and preceding Wild Horses. Duvall also produced the movie and starred in the lead role. The cast includes Rubén Blades, Kathy Baker, and Luciana Pedraza. Produced by United Artists, American Zoetrope, and Butcher's Run Films, the project was a joint effort between the United States and Argentina.
