Death of a Lion

This short documentary examines the nature of contemporary American revolutionary movements through the personal account of a former leader from the Black Lion Party for International Solidarity. The film follows the subject as he reflects on spiritual transformation, the experience of loss, and the process of finding a chosen family. Filmed over a period of two months, the narrative focuses on a short but significant transitional phase for the Black Panther Party during the 2020s.

Written, produced, and directed by Danny Jeremias, the film is the fifth in a series of projects he directed, following The Commuter, Adderall Redbull, Peter Has Something to Say, and Only the Dead Know Brooklyn. Produced by Ignatius Artists in the United States, the 20-minute production features Lu Villanueva, Paul Birdsong, Comrade Nubian, Miss D, Mama Revolution, and Young Sam appearing as themselves. Danny Jeremias also appears on screen in the role of the interviewer.
