The Strange Little Cat

The Strange Little Cat is an upcoming comedy and drama set in a Berlin apartment during an autumn Saturday. The story follows siblings Karin and Simon as they visit their parents and younger sister, Clara. As the day progresses, other relatives, neighbors, and friends arrive, leading up to a shared dinner. The film focuses on mundane domestic activities and conversations, involving a dog and a cat that move through the home. These everyday interactions are presented with stylized, non-naturalistic elements, blending a family drama with a psychological study of a mother and the qualities of a fairy tale.

Written and directed by Ramon Zürcher, this is the second film in the director's career, following The Sparrow in the Chimney from 2024. The production was handled by the Deutsche Film- und Fernsehakademie Berlin. The cast features Anjorka Strechel as Karin, Jenny Schily as the mother, Matthias Dittmer as the father, Luk Pfaff as Simon, Monika Hetterle as the grandmother, and Kathleen Morgeneyer as Hanna.

The film has a runtime of 72 minutes. While it is not yet released, it has already received a rating of 6.5/10 on IMDb based on 1,100 votes.
