The Magic Roundabout

The Magic Roundabout follows Dougal, a shaggy dog with a fondness for sweets, and his friends Brian the snail, Ermintrude the cow and Dylan the rabbit. Their home, the enchanted roundabout, is threatened when the wicked ice sorcerer Zeebad escapes and brings a spreading freeze to the land. To stop him and send him back to his underground prison, the group must gather three magic diamonds. The task falls to a small band of unlikely heroes, and the fate of the world rests on their courage and teamwork.

Directed by Frank Passingham, Dave Borthwick and Jean Duval, the film was written by Paul Bassett and Raoff Sanoussi and produced by Laurent Rodon, Pascal Rodon and Claude Gorsky. It is the first of two features credited to all three directors, ahead of Doogal. The voice cast includes Robbie Williams as Dougal, Kylie Minogue as Florence, Ian McKellen as Zebedee, Joanna Lumley as Ermintrude, Jim Broadbent as Brian and Bill Nighy as Dylan. It is a British and French production with 47 credited crew members.

Released in 2005 and running 85 minutes, the film had a budget of 20 million USD and earned 19 million USD worldwide. On TMDB it holds a rating of 5.4 from 174 votes, while critics gave it 5.1 from five reviews. Both scores sit close to each other, indicating a similar reception from audiences and reviewers.
