The Legend of Zorro

In 1850, California is poised to become the thirty-first state of the Union, but the de la Vega family has other concerns. Alejandro has spent years keeping his life as Zorro hidden, even from his young son Joaquin, while Elena wants him to set aside the mask for good. When a threat to California's pending statehood forces him back into action, Elena feels betrayed, and the strain on their marriage deepens just as a new conspiracy takes shape. Alejandro must once again take up the role of Zorro, this time with Elena drawn into the fight alongside him.

The Legend of Zorro is a sequel to The Mask of Zorro, reuniting director Martin Campbell with stars Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, with Adrian Alonso as Joaquin and Nick Chinlund among the supporting cast. The screenplay was written by Alex Kurtzman and Roberto Orci, and the film was produced by Columbia Pictures, Amblin Entertainment and Spyglass Entertainment. It was released in October 2005 and runs 130 minutes.

The ninth of eighteen films Campbell has directed, it followed Beyond Borders and preceded Casino Royale. Made for 75 million dollars, it grossed 142 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6 out of 10 from around 114,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.1 out of 10 from roughly 3,200 votes, while critics gave it 5.2 out of 10 across 139 reviews, placing it below both audience scores.
