3096 Days

3096 Days tells the story of Natascha Kampusch, an Austrian girl abducted on her way to school in March 1998, when she was ten years old. Her captor, Wolfgang Priklopil, an unemployed communications technician, kept her locked in a concealed cellar beneath his house for more than eight years. The film follows her time in captivity and the scrutiny and public attention that surrounded her after she regained her freedom, tracing how her path back to an ordinary life proved longer than her escape itself. It is based on Kampusch's own account of the case.

The German production was directed by Sherry Hormann, who had previously made Desert Flower, and its screenplay was written by Bernd Eichinger and Peter Reichard, with Martin Moszkowicz producing. Antonia Campbell-Hughes plays the adult Natascha, while Thure Lindhardt appears as Priklopil and Trine Dyrholm as Brigitta Sirny. Amelia Pidgeon plays Natascha as a child, and Roeland Wiesnekker and Dearbhla Molloy also feature.

Released in February 2013 and running 111 minutes, the drama took about 7 million dollars worldwide. Audiences have received it modestly: on IMDb it holds 6.5 out of 10 from roughly 19,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 7.4 out of 10 from around a thousand votes.
