Short description

Kenneth Winslow is a shy technical writer who orders a lifelike silicone doll over the internet and names her Nikki. The doll can be customized to his tastes, and he grows increasingly attached to her. When Lisa, a new colleague at his company, takes an interest in him, he finds himself torn between a real woman and the companion he has built for himself. The line between the two relationships begins to blur, with unsettling results.

Love Object was released in 2004. It is a low-budget American production, made for about one million dollars, and it runs eighty-eight minutes. Robert Parigi directed it, with Kathleen Haase, Lawrence Levy and Chris Miller producing. Desmond Harrington plays Kenneth, Melissa Sagemiller plays Lisa Bellmer, and Udo Kier and Rip Torn appear in supporting roles. The film mixes drama, horror, romance and thriller elements around its central relationship.

On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.3 from around four thousand votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.9 from a much smaller number of votes. A film critics' rating of 5 out of 10 is based on twenty-four reviews, placing it below the audience score on IMDb.
