Nowhere

Nowhere follows a group of teenagers navigating a single, chaotic day in Los Angeles. At the centre is Dark Smith, an eighteen-year-old searching for love while the world around him seems to be falling apart. He and his friends, including his bisexual girlfriend Mel, her lover Lucifer, and their shy friend Montgomery, plan to attend the biggest party of the year. Reaching it means getting through a day filled with drug use, violence, sexual encounters and other bizarre events, including reported alien abductions. The film mixes comedy and drama with science fiction elements as the characters drift through their intersecting lives.

Gregg Araki wrote and directed the film, which was produced by Andrea Sperling and Araki himself. It sits between The Doom Generation (1995) and Mysterious Skin (2005) in his filmography, continuing the confrontational style of his earlier work. The cast is led by James Duval as Dark, alongside Rachel True, Nathan Bexton, Chiara Mastroianni, Debi Mazar and Kathleen Robertson, with 49 credited performers in total.

Released in May 1997, Nowhere runs 83 minutes and was made as a co-production between the United States and France. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 from around 12,000 votes, and on TMDB 6.7 from roughly 234 votes. A critics' rating of 3.9 from 14 reviews places it well below the audience scores.
