Bride of Re-Animator

Bride of Re-Animator continues the story of Dr. Herbert West and Dr. Dan Cain after the horrors that took place at the Miskatonic University hospital. The two men have been working in a war zone in South America, where the steady supply of bodies lets West refine the serum that can restore life to dead tissue. Once they return to Massachusetts, West sets out to do more than revive corpses: he wants to build a new being from parts of several bodies, using the preserved heart of Meg Halsey, the woman Dan loved and lost. Dan, still unable to let go of her, becomes involved in the experiment, which draws the attention of Lieutenant Leslie Chapham and, eventually, of an old enemy.

Brian Yuzna directed and produced the film, his second feature after Society, and wrote the screenplay with Rick Fry and Woody Keith. Jeffrey Combs returns as West, with Bruce Abbott as Dan, David Gale as Dr. Carl Hill, Fabiana Udenio as Francesca and Kathleen Kinmont as Gloria. Made for about 3 million dollars, the film received mixed notices, with critics averaging 5.5 out of 10 across 45 reviews. Audiences have been somewhat warmer: it holds 6.2 on IMDb from around 19,000 votes and 6.4 on TMDB from roughly 500. Yuzna later returned to the character with Beyond Re-Animator.
