Jai Puri is a forest ranger of Indian origin living in Canada with his wife, Sheila. He keeps a rare ability largely to himself: by touching a photograph, he can experience the past of the person in it, seeing events as though he were that person rather than himself. The gift carries risks for him, and he rarely uses it, until a death in his family pushes him to look into what really happened. What he finds turns a loss he thought he understood into a mystery he has to solve.

8x10 Tasveer was released in April 2009 and runs 119 minutes. Nagesh Kukunoor directed and wrote the screenplay, working with producer Elahe Hiptoola and Bhushan Kumar. Akshay Kumar plays the dual roles of Jai and Jeet Puri, with Ayesha Takia as Sheila, Sharmila Tagore as Savitri Puri, Girish Karnad as Anil Sharma and Javed Jaffrey as Habibullah Pasha. The film blends action, mystery, science fiction and thriller elements, and was made on a budget of about 35 million dollars.

On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.5 from roughly 6,400 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.3 from 28 votes. Both figures suggest a modest reception, with the larger IMDb sample pointing to a middling response rather than strong enthusiasm.
