Her convictions are challenged when she meets Grimaldi, a seventy-year-old man who is physically healthy but wishes to die because he has lost interest in life. Unwilling to be responsible for a suicide driven by emotional rather than physical suffering, Irene attempts to prevent him from following through with his decision.
