Perfect Creature

Perfect Creature is set in an alternate world where humans and vampires have coexisted for three centuries under a strict system of coexistence, with vampires receiving blood willingly donated by humans. The arrangement comes under threat when a vampire named Edgar defies the established order, turning violent and risking open conflict between the two populations. To stop him, a vampire enforcer, Brother Silus, is paired with a human police officer, Lilly, and the pair set out to bring Edgar in before the fragile peace collapses into war.

The film is a British and New Zealand production directed by Glenn Standring, who also wrote the screenplay, and produced by Russel Fischer, Jason Piette and Tim Sanders. Dougray Scott plays Brother Silus, with Saffron Burrows as Lilly, Leo Gregory as Edgar, and supporting turns from Scott Wills, Stuart Wilson and Craig Hall. It was made for a budget of 20 million USD and ranks among the higher-budgeted genre productions to come out of New Zealand.

Released in 2007, the film runs 90 minutes and blends action, drama, fantasy, horror and science fiction. Its commercial performance fell far short of its cost, taking about 1 million USD worldwide. Audiences have been mixed: it holds a rating of 5.3 out of 10 on IMDb from roughly 5,900 votes, and the same score on TMDB from around 100 votes.
