Election

The Wo Shing Society, the oldest triad in Hong Kong, holds an election every two years to choose a new leader. A fierce power struggle emerges between two candidates: Lok, who is favored by the elders for his adherence to tradition, and Big D, who is willing to use bribery and violence to secure the position. The conflict intensifies when the dragon-head baton, a historic symbol of authority, goes missing, leading to a brutal confrontation that threatens to split the criminal organization.

Directed by Johnnie To, this crime drama is the 15th of his 23 films in chronological order, following 1:99 Shorts and preceding Election 2. The movie stars Simon Yam as Lok and Tony Leung Ka-fai as Big D, with a supporting cast including Louis Koo, Nick Cheung, Lam Ka-tung, and Eddie Cheung.
