Private School

Christine Ramsey, a student at an all-girls school, is in love with Jim Green, who attends a boys' academy nearby. Her classmate Jordan wants Jim for herself and sets out to break up the couple, while Jim's friend Bubba pursues a series of misadventures of his own. Jim and Christine keep trying to find time alone, but a string of schemes and complications gets in the way. The story unfolds around a dance at Christine's school that draws together the students from both campuses.

Noel Black directed the film, which followed A Change of Seasons (1980) in his filmography. Suzanne O'Malley and Dan Greenburg wrote the screenplay, and R. Ben Efraim and Don Enright produced it for Universal Pictures. Phoebe Cates plays Christine, with Betsy Russell as Jordan, Matthew Modine as Jim, Michael Zorek as Bubba, Fran Ryan as Miss Dutchbok and Kathleen Wilhoite as Betsy. Twenty-three cast members are credited.

Released in the United States in June 1983, the film runs 89 minutes and took in roughly 14 million dollars worldwide.
