Rampage at Apache Wells

An unscrupulous businessman known as the Oilprince attempts to defraud a bank by selling nonexistent oil wells located at Shelly Lake. To ensure he maintains control of the land, he manipulates a group of settlers intending to reside there by replacing their scout. His schemes escalate as he tries to incite conflict between the colonists and local tribes, even committing murder to frame the settlers. However, the Apache leader Winnetou and his companion Old Surehand work to expose the fraud and prevent a violent confrontation.

Directed by Harald Philipp, this adventure western was the first of two films he directed before Winnetou and the Crossbreed. The production was a joint effort between Germany and Yugoslavia, involving companies such as Constantin Film and Jadran Film. The movie stars Stewart Granger as Old Surehand and Pierre Brice as Winnetou, with Harald Leipnitz playing the Oilprince. The cast also includes Heinz Erhardt, Terence Hill, and Macha Méril, with a total of 20 credited performers.
