Dark Angel
Short description
Dark Angel is a 1990 science fiction action film set in Houston, where Detective Jack Caine works outside the rules in his pursuit of drug traffickers, particularly the supplier Victor Manning. When a raid goes wrong and Caine's partner is killed, and heroin stolen from police custody begins turning up in a string of overdose deaths, the FBI assigns him a strait-laced partner, Agent Laurence Smith. Their investigation reveals that the killer is not a person at all: a towering alien is injecting victims with the stolen heroin so that their brains produce a substance he needs, leaving a wound in each victim's forehead. A second alien is also on the hunt, and the two officers must combine their efforts against a threat they can barely comprehend.
Craig R. Baxley directs this, the second of the features he directed, following Action Jackson and preceding Stone Cold. Dolph Lundgren stars as Caine, with Brian Benben as Smith, Betsy Brantley as Diane Pallone, and Matthias Hues as the alien Talec. The screenplay was written by Jonathan Tydor, Leonard Maas Jr. and David Koepp, and Jeff Young produced. The film was made for about 7 million USD and earned roughly 9 million USD worldwide.
