Book of Blood

Mary Florescu is a writer and investigator of paranormal phenomena who takes up the case of a notorious house where unexplained events have occurred and where a young woman died violently some years earlier. Working with her assistant and a student named Simon McNeal, who is believed to have mediumistic abilities, she hopes to reach the forces inside the building. The disturbances that follow leave increasingly severe marks on Simon's body, which turn into writing. The film draws on a story from Clive Barker's Books of Blood.

John Harrison directs from a screenplay by Darin Silverman, with Barker among the producers. Harrison's earlier features are Tales from the Darkside: The Movie, Supernova and Blank Slate, making Book of Blood the fourth film he directed. Jonas Armstrong plays Simon and Sophie Ward plays Mary, with Clive Russell, Paul Blair, Romana Abercromby and Simon Bamford in supporting roles. A British production of 96 minutes, it mixes horror and mystery with drama and thriller elements.

On IMDb the film holds a critics' rating of 6.3 from five reviews, while on TMDB it has 5.4 from 223 votes. The two measures come from quite different sources and sample sizes.
