Short description
Set in New York, this musical comedy and drama follows Annie, an optimistic orphan who lives under the harsh care of Miss Hannigan. Her life changes when she meets Will Stacks, a wealthy businessman running for mayor. On the advice of his team, Stacks takes the girl in as a calculated move to improve his public image during his political campaign. While the tycoon initially views himself as her savior, Annie's positive spirit begins to influence his own outlook on life.
Directed by Will Gluck, this film is the fourth in his chronological series of feature films, following Fired Up!, Easy A, and Friends with Benefits. The movie stars Quvenzhané Wallis, Jamie Foxx, Rose Byrne, and Cameron Diaz. It was produced by Will Smith, Jada Pinkett Smith, and James Lassiter, with a screenplay by Aline Brosh McKenna and Gluck.
The production had a budget of 65 million USD and earned 137 million USD at the worldwide box office. Audience reception is mixed, with a 5.4 rating on IMDb based on 43,000 votes and a 6.2 rating on TMDB from 1,382 votes. Film critics gave the movie a lower score of 4.5 based on 159 reviews.

After the car leaves the bridge and enters New Jersey, it's pursued by New York police cars, not New Jersey police cars. Furthermore, after leaving the bridge, the characters immediately enter Liberty State Park, which is more than 30 kilometers to the south.
- In the scene where William Stacks takes Annie and her friends to the movies, the actors in the film they are watching are named Andrea Alvin and Simon Goodspeed, which is a reference to the original Broadway production. Andrea McArdle was the first Annie on Broadway, and the premiere of the production starring her took place at the Alvin Theatre. "Goodspeed" is the name of the theater where the musical "Annie" premiered before it went to Broadway.
