Short description

Two crew members wake up on an abandoned spacecraft with no idea who they are, how long they've been asleep, or what their mission is. The two soon discover they're actually not alone – and the reality of their situation is more horrifying than they could have imagined.

What's left behind the scenes

  • In the US, the film was shown in cinemas with D-Box support. This is a system of vibrations and movements that is mounted in the seat and allows for deeper immersion in the action.
  • Ben Foster insisted on eating real, live insects.
  • The ship is named 'Elysium'. In ancient Greek mythology, this is a part of the afterlife, the abode of blessed souls. There is a certain allusion here to the ship's mission, which is traveling from an overpopulated Earth to the Earth-like planet Tanis to establish a colony there.
  • Travis Milloy initially wrote a script set on a prison ship. Nadia and Man, played by Antje Traue and Kung Le, were inmates there. Bauer, played by Ben Foster, was not a prisoner. He trusted no one. Producers showed this script to Christian Alvart, who was struck by its similarity to his own script about four astronauts on board a ship suffering from amnesia. Eventually, it was decided to merge these two scripts.
  • Pandorum is a mental disorder that affects ship captains when they become convinced that their ship is cursed, after which the captains go insane. This disease is fictional.
  • The leader of the hunters is played by André Hennicke. He is also shown without monstrous makeup as the commander of the young Galloway at the very beginning.
  • At the seventh minute, the main character looks into Lieutenant Peyton's cryochamber, addressing him by his last name. The last name Peyton is also visible on the chamber itself. A minute later, the main character tries to break the glass of this chamber, where the beginning of the last name Peyton is also visible. But between these moments, a view "from inside the cryochamber" of the same Peyton, whom the main character is trying to open, is shown. But the last name on the glass is already Bowers.

A minute later, the protagonist tries to break the glass of this pod, where the beginning of the name Peyton is also visible. However, between these moments, there is a shot from 'inside the cryopod' of the same Peyton that the protagonist is trying to open, but the name on the glass is now Bowers.
