Pink Cadillac

Pink Cadillac is an action comedy about a bounty hunter named Tommy Nowak who tracks down people who have skipped bail using unusual methods. His latest assignment is Lou Ann, a young mother who has fled with her baby in her husband's pink Cadillac. Her husband belongs to a white supremacist group called Birthright, and the money she took with her turns out to belong to his associates, who want it back and take the child as leverage. Nowak ends up helping her instead of turning her in.

The film was directed by Buddy Van Horn, who had previously made Any Which Way You Can and The Dead Pool, and it was written by John Eskow. Clint Eastwood, a regular collaborator with Van Horn, stars as Nowak, with Bernadette Peters as Lou Ann, Timothy Carhart as her husband Roy, and Jim Carrey in an early role as a lounge entertainer. The supporting cast also includes John Dennis Johnston and Michael Des Barres.

Pink Cadillac was released in May 1989. Made for about 19 million dollars, it took in roughly 12 million worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.4 from around 13,000 votes, and on TMDB a 5.5 from about 270 votes. A critics' rating of 4 out of 10 from 21 reviews places it below even those modest audience scores.
