Little Giants

Little Giants is a family comedy set in the small town of Urbania, Ohio, where Danny O'Shea has long lived in the shadow of his brother Kevin. Kevin was once a professional football player and now coaches the local youth team, which has dominated the town league for years. When Kevin cuts Danny's daughter from the squad despite her clear talent for the sport, Danny decides to build a rival team from the kids his brother rejected, a mixed group of boys and girls passed over for being too small, too slow or too heavy. The two brothers end up on opposite sidelines, each coaching a team with very different prospects.

The film was directed by Duwayne Dunham, following his 1993 debut Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey. Tommy Swerdlow, Michael Goldberg and James Ferguson wrote the screenplay, and Arne Schmidt produced for Warner Bros. Pictures, Amblin Entertainment and Warner Bros. Family Entertainment. Rick Moranis and Ed O'Neill lead the cast as Danny and Kevin, with Devon Sawa as Junior Floyd, Shawna Waldron as Danny's daughter Becky, Todd Bosley as Jake Berman and Michael Zwiener as Rudy Zolteck among the 27 credited performers. It runs 107 minutes.

Released in October 1994, the film took in roughly 19 million dollars worldwide against a budget of about 20 million, so it did not recoup its costs at the box office. On IMDb it holds a 6.5 rating from around 33,000 votes, and on TMDB a 6.5 from roughly 491 votes. A critics' rating of 5.7 from 14 reviews sits close to those audience scores.
