Short description

Kim Possible Movie: So the Drama follows the teenage crime-fighter Kim Possible as she faces a new scheme from her recurring nemesis, Dr. Drakken. His plan for world domination hinges on discovering Kim's weakness, and he believes he has found it in a new student at her school named Eric, who catches Kim's attention. Meanwhile, her best friend and partner Ron Stoppable grows jealous over the situation, and his struggles extend to changes at his favorite fast-food restaurant. As her school prom approaches, Kim must sort out her personal life while still preventing Drakken's plot from succeeding, with help from Ron, his pet mole rat Rufus, and computer expert Wade.

The film was directed by Chris Bailey, David Block, and Steve Loter, and written by Mark McCorkle, Bob Schooley, and Brian Swenlin. For Bailey and Block it was their second and first directorial features respectively, while Loter had previously directed Tarzan & Jane. It is based on the Disney animated television series and serves as its conclusion. The voice cast includes Christy Carlson Romano as Kim, Will Friedle as Ron, Nancy Cartwright as Rufus, Tahj Mowry as Wade, Mayim Bialik as Justine Flanner, and Gary Cole as Dr. Possible, among 33 credited cast members.

The television film runs 71 minutes and was released in April 2005 as part of a Disney Channel production alongside Disney Television Animation. It holds a rating of 7.1 from around 5,500 votes on IMDb and 6.9 from roughly 207 votes on TMDB, indicating generally positive viewer response across both platforms.

What's left behind the scenes

  • The scene where Drakken and Shego are put in a police van was not in the initial version. It had to be added because viewers at the previews felt that Shego had fallen at the hands of Kim.
  • In one of the episodes, a car bumper sticker can be seen with the inscription "No 65 Episode Rule!" This refers to a Disney studio rule limiting series to 65 episodes.
  • The working title of the cartoon was "Devil's Day".
