Tumbledown centers on Hannah, a young widow in a small Maine town whose husband, an acclaimed folk musician, has died. While she tries to move forward, Andrew, an assertive writer from New York, arrives to pursue his own account of the musician's life and death. His presence pushes Hannah to confront her grief and the unresolved questions surrounding how her husband died, and the two form an unexpected bond as they work through the same story from very different angles.
The film is directed by Sean Mewshaw from a screenplay by Desiree Van Til, and it was produced by Margot Hand, Kristin Hahn and Aaron L. Gilbert. Rebecca Hall plays Hannah, with Jason Sudeikis as Andrew, and the cast also includes Dianna Agron, Blythe Danner, Griffin Dunne and Joe Manganiello. The story mixes comedy, drama, music and romance, and runs 105 minutes.
Released in February 2016, Tumbledown received a critics' rating of 6.3/10 from 37 reviews. Audiences are closely aligned with that assessment: on IMDb the film holds 6.2/10 from 351 votes, and on TMDB it also sits at 6.2/10, from 194 votes. Both the review score and the viewer scores place it in similar, moderately rated territory.
