Short description

Bo Burnham: Make Happy is a stand-up comedy special in which Bo Burnham performs before a live audience, mixing his characteristic self-deprecating humour with original songs. The material ranges across subjects that include life and death, sexuality, hypocrisy and mental illness, and the stage show is built around Burnham's own perspective on these topics.

The special was released in June 2016 and runs about an hour. Burnham directed it and wrote the material; Kathy Welch and Chris Scanlon produced it, through 3 Arts Entertainment and Attic Bedroom. It is Burnham's first directing credit, followed by the feature Eighth Grade and the special Bo Burnham: Inside. Christopher Storer, later known for directing the stand-up specials Ramy Youssef: More Feelings and Ramy Youssef: In Love and the film Gary, also directed here. Burnham appears as himself, with Lorene Scafaria also credited as herself.

On TMDB, the special holds a rating of 8 out of 10 from 454 votes, a strong showing for a filmed stage performance.
