Charlie Rogers is a singer who travels on his motorcycle and plays music wherever he can find work. When he loses a job at a coffee shop or is knocked off the road by an angry man, depending on which account you follow, he ends up at a travelling carnival that is close to going broke. The owner, Maggie Morgan, hires him for odd jobs, and his skill as a musician begins to draw crowds that could turn the carnival's fortunes around. His interest in Cathy, the daughter of Maggie's second husband Joe, creates tension with the girl's father and pushes Charlie toward a rival showman.

The film is a musical romance from 1964, directed by John Rich from a screenplay by Anthony Lawrence and Allan Weiss. It was the first of the two features Rich directed and was produced by Hal B. Wallis for Paramount. Elvis Presley stars as Charlie, with Barbara Stanwyck as Maggie, Joan Freeman as Cathy, Leif Erickson as Joe, Sue Ane Langdon as Madame Mijanou and Pat Buttram as Harry Carver, among a credited cast of 43. Released in November 1964, it took in about seven million dollars worldwide. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6 out of 10 from 59 votes.
