Rebecca is a prominent war photojournalist who is seriously injured while photographing a suicide bomber in Kabul. Upon returning home to Ireland, she faces a crisis within her household. Her husband and daughters, weary of the constant danger she faces in her career, present her with an ultimatum: she must choose between her professional ambitions and her family.
Directed by Erik Poppe, this 2013 drama is the second film in his chronological list of directorial works, following Troubled Water. The story stars Juliette Binoche as Rebecca and Nikolaj Coster-Waldau as Marcus, with a supporting cast that includes Lauryn Canny, Adrianna Cramer Curtis, Maria Doyle Kennedy, and Larry Mullen Jr. The production was a collaboration between companies from Norway, Sweden, and Ireland.
Financially, the film did not recoup its 5 million USD budget, earning 3 million USD at the worldwide box office.
