Twitches

Twitches follows twin sisters Alex and Camryn, who were separated at birth and raised in very different circumstances, one in a modest household and the other in a wealthy family. Each knows she was adopted but has no idea the other exists. That changes on their twenty-first birthday, when a magical intervention brings them together and their powers begin to surface.

The sisters learn they were born in the magical realm of Coventry and sent to Earth as infants to protect them from a dark force. Now they must come to terms with who they are and with the threat still hanging over the world they came from, a struggle that tests whether they can act as one.

Directed by Stuart Gillard, this 2005 Disney Channel television film was written by Dan Berendsen and Melissa Gould and produced by Kevin Lafferty. It stars Tia Mowry as Alex and Tamera Mowry-Housley as Camryn, alongside Kristen Wilson, Patrick Fabian, Pat Kelly and Jennifer Robertson. It is the sixth of the thirteen films Gillard directed, following Going to the Mat and preceding Twitches Too, which continues the story.

Made for a reported 20 million dollars, the film sits at 5.8 out of 10 on IMDb from around 11,000 votes and 6.7 out of 10 on TMDB from roughly 560 votes, with the smaller TMDB sample rating it more warmly than the larger IMDb one.
