A married couple’s relationship has collapsed under the husband’s infidelity, and the wife’s rage turns into a plan to take revenge on him. When she cannot carry that plan out, she instead turns on the couple’s teenage son, leaving him with a severe and permanent injury. What follows is the slow unravelling of the three of them: the boy has to face the cruelty of those around him, while his father, consumed by guilt and worry about his son’s future, searches for a way to restore some kind of physical intimacy between them. Kim Ki-duk wrote and directed.

The film is a Korean drama with almost no dialogue, carried by Cho Jae-hyun as the father, Lee Na-ra as the mother and Seo Young-joo as the son. It was released in 2013 and runs 89 minutes. It is the tenth of the thirteen films Kim directed in chronological order, coming after Pieta and before Venice 70: Future Reloaded, and it was produced by Kim Soon-mo through Kim Ki-duk Film with Finecut and Next Entertainment World.

Reception was moderate. On IMDb it holds 6.3 out of 10 from about 7,200 votes, and on TMDB 6.6 out of 10 from 268 votes, figures that suggest a limited but engaged audience. The critics’ rating of 6.1 out of 10 from 42 reviews is close to both audience scores, indicating broad agreement rather than a sharp divide.
