Short description
Set in northern Scandinavia around 1000 AD, this adventure film follows Aigin, a teenager who witnesses the brutal murder of his family by a group of warring people known as the Tchudes. After escaping to a nearby Sámi camp, Aigin's arrival brings fear to the inhabitants, who worry that the killers have tracked him. As the community flees toward the coast to find safety, Aigin remains behind, driven by a desire for revenge. Once captured by the invaders, he offers to serve as their guide to the other Sámi, though he secretly intends to destroy the warriors before they can reach the camp.
Written and directed by Nils Gaup, this was the first of four films he directed, followed by Journey to the Christmas Star, The Last King, and The Riot. The cast features Mikkel Gaup in the lead role as Aigin, alongside Svein Scharffenberg, Ingvald Guttorm, Nils Utsi, Nils-Aslak Valkeapää, and Helgi Skúlason. The film was produced by John M. Jacobsen through Carolco Pictures and Filmkameratene. Audiences have responded positively to the movie, which holds a rating of 7.1/10 on IMDb based on 6,000 votes and a 6.9/10 on TMDB from 89 votes.

- Most of the film was shot on the Finnmark mountain plateau in Norway at temperatures sometimes reaching -47°C. This caused enormous difficulties for crew members unaccustomed to such cold, some of whom even refused to work in such unbearable conditions. The majority of the cast were Sami people and did not experience significant difficulties in such weather.
