Aimée & Jaguar

In 1943 Berlin, as Allied bombs fall on the city and the Gestapo hunts down its Jewish residents, Lilly leads an ordinary life as the wife of a German officer and the mother of four children. Felice, a Jewish woman living under a false identity, works for a Nazi newspaper while secretly passing information to the resistance. The two women meet and begin a passionate affair, writing each other daily letters and poems under the names Aimée and Jaguar. When Lilly learns the truth about Felice, she turns her back on her marriage and her former life, divorcing her husband and taking Felice into her apartment, aware of the danger this brings.

Aimée & Jaguar was directed by Max Färberböck, who wrote the screenplay with Rona Munro. It was his debut feature. It stars Maria Schrader as Felice, Juliane Köhler as Lilly, Johanna Wokalek, Heike Makatsch, Elisabeth Degen and Detlev Buck, among a credited cast of 51. The film runs 125 minutes and was produced in Germany on a budget of about 15 million dollars.
