Red Water

A man-eating bull shark capable of surviving in fresh water begins attacking people in the Mississippi river system of Louisiana. John Sanders, a former drilling expert, joins his ex-wife Kelli, a scientist working for a petroleum company, to deal with the predator. Their efforts are complicated by the presence of criminals who are attempting to recover a hidden treasure from the riverbed, leading to a conflict where hostages are taken.
