Blackwood

Ben Marshall, a college professor, moves with his wife and young son to a house in the countryside after recovering from a severe emotional breakdown. He has a teaching position waiting for him, and the family hopes for a fresh start. Soon after settling in, Ben begins to sense that something in the house is wrong, and he is troubled by ghostly visions. His efforts to understand a local mystery lead him to fear for his family's safety.

Blackwood is a British horror thriller directed by Adam Wimpenny from a screenplay by J.S. Hill, and produced by Adam Morane-Griffiths for Wildcard Films. It runs 100 minutes and was released in August 2014. Ed Stoppard plays Ben, with Sophia Myles as his wife Rachel, Greg Wise as Dominic, Joanna Vanderham as Jessica, Paul Kaye as Father Patrick and Russell Tovey as Jack. It is an early feature in Wimpenny's directing career.

The film has drawn modest responses. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.3 out of 10 from around 1,200 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6 out of 10 from a much smaller electorate of 48. A critics' rating of 4.7 out of 10, based on 14 reviews, places the professional response below the audience scores recorded on both platforms.
