Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs

In the town of Swallow Falls, where the local sardine industry has left everyone with little to eat, hopeful inventor Flint Lockwood has spent his life producing gadgets that fail spectacularly. His latest creation, a device meant to turn water into food, accidentally launches into the sky, and soon cheeseburgers and other meals begin falling from the clouds. The town quickly embraces its new abundance, but as demand grows, the machine runs out of control and the weather turns dangerous, forcing Flint to find a way to stop it before the food storms overwhelm everything. His allies include Sam Sparks, a weather reporter who comes to cover the phenomenon, and Steve, a talking monkey.

The film is an animated comedy based on the book by Judi Barrett, released in 2009 and running 90 minutes. It was directed by Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Rob Greenberg; it was the first feature they directed, preceding 21 Jump Street, The Lego Movie, 22 Jump Street and Project Hail Mary. Bill Hader voices Flint, with Anna Faris, James Caan, Andy Samberg, Bruce Campbell and Mr. T among the cast. Produced by Columbia Pictures and Sony Pictures Animation on a budget of about 100 million dollars, it took roughly 243 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds 6.9/10 from 283,000 votes and on TMDB 6.7/10 from 6,633 votes, while a critics' rating stands at 7.3/10 from 142 reviews.
