Short description
God has lost faith in humanity and sends a host of angels to wipe out creation, leaving a handful of strangers as the only obstacle. Among them is the Archangel Michael, who turns against the divine plan and takes the side of the people he was meant to destroy. The group ends up trapped in a diner in the middle of the desert, where a waitress is carrying a child who represents humanity's survival. The standoff pits the defenders against the forces sent to end them.
Scott Stewart directed Legion from a screenplay he wrote with Peter Schink, and it was the first feature he directed. Paul Bettany plays Michael, with Dennis Quaid as diner owner Bob Hanson, Lucas Black as his son Jeep, Kate Walsh as Sandra Anderson, Tyrese Gibson as Kyle Williams and Adrianne Palicki as Charlie. The film is a modest production by Hollywood standards, budgeted at 26 million dollars, and it earned 68 million dollars worldwide.
Audience response has been middling: on IMDb it holds a rating of 5.3 out of 10 from around 119,000 votes, and on TMDB it sits at 5.9 out of 10 from roughly 3,000 votes. Stewart followed it with Priest, Dark Skies and Holidays.
