Ratchet & Clank

Ratchet & Clank follows a young mechanic named Ratchet, the last of his kind on the planet Veldin, who dreams of joining the Galactic Rangers led by the celebrated Captain Qwark. When a small robot named Clank arrives carrying word of a plot by the villainous Chairman Drek to destroy the planets of the Solana galaxy and build a new world for his own species, the two form an unlikely partnership. Together they join forces with the Rangers in an attempt to stop Drek before the Solar System itself is threatened.

The film is an animated adaptation of the video game series of the same name, directed by Kevin Munroe and Jericca Cleland, and written by Munroe, Gerry Swallow and T.J. Fixman. It was Munroe's third feature, following TMNT and Dylan Dog: Dead of Night, and it precedes Treasure Trekkers in his filmography. The voice cast includes James Arnold Taylor as Ratchet, David Kaye as Clank, Jim Ward as Captain Qwark, Paul Giamatti as Chairman Drek, Armin Shimerman as Dr. Nefarious and Rosario Dawson as Elaris.

Produced on a budget of about 20 million US dollars, the film returned roughly 9 million dollars worldwide. Audiences rate it modestly: on IMDb it holds 5.5 out of 10 from more than 11,000 votes, while on TMDB it stands at 5.8 from several hundred. A critics' score of 4.3 out of 10 from 82 reviews places it below both audience figures.
