The Straw Hat Pirates are resting on a beach when their ship, the Going Merry, is stolen and sailed away. Luffy and his crew set out after it and cross paths with a pair of brothers, Borodo and Akisu, who have their own interest in a diamond clock kept on Clockwork Island. The thieves known as the Trump Pirates attack, seizing Nami along with Luffy's straw hat, and the crew traces them to their stronghold on the island, where the pirates have long held the local inhabitants under their control. Luffy, Zoro, Nami's crewmates and the two brothers set out to recover the ship, rescue Nami and take back the hat.
The film is directed by Junji Shimizu, who also directed One Piece: The Movie the previous year; this is the second of several One Piece features he went on to make. Hiroshi Hashimoto wrote the screenplay, and the voice cast includes Mayumi Tanaka as Luffy, Kazuya Nakai as Zoro, Akemi Okamura as Nami, Kappei Yamaguchi as Usopp, Hiroaki Hirata as Sanji and Kenyu Horiuchi as Borodo.
It runs sixty minutes and was released in Japan in March 2001. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.6 from roughly 3,800 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 6.9 from just over 300 votes, a level of agreement typical of the series' earlier theatrical films.
