Cowboy Bebop: The Movie

Cowboy Bebop: The Movie takes place on Mars in 2071, where a tanker explosion in a city street releases a deadly virus that kills hundreds. The authorities suspect a biological attack and post a huge reward for whoever is responsible. Aboard the spaceship Bebop, a crew of bounty hunters who are short on money takes an interest in the case: Spike Spiegel, Jet Black, Faye Valentine and the young hacker Ed. Their hunt for the man behind the attack draws them into a conspiracy larger than they expected, and they are not the only ones pursuing him.

The film is an anime feature based on the Cowboy Bebop television series, with Keiko Nobumoto writing the screenplay and Tensai Okamura, Hiroyuki Okiura and Shinichiro Watanabe among its directors. Watanabe's directing credits include Macross Plus: The Movie and The Animatrix, while Okamura later directed Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow and My Hero Academia: You're Next. The Japanese voice cast includes Koichi Yamadera as Spike, Unsho Ishizuka as Jet, Megumi Hayashibara as Faye, Aoi Tada as Ed, Ai Kobayashi as Electra and Mickey Curtis as Rasheed.

Released in 2001, the film earned about 1 million dollars worldwide. Audiences rate it highly, with 7.8 out of 10 on IMDb from around 57,000 votes and 7.7 out of 10 on TMDB. The critics' rating of 6.3 out of 10 from 78 reviews is more moderate than those viewer scores.
