Short description
Aningaaq, an Inuit fisherman camping on the ice over a frozen fjord, talks through a two way radio with a dying astronaut who is stranded in space, 500 kilometers above Earth. Even though he doesn't speak English and she doesn't speak Greenlandic, they manage to have a conversation about dogs, babies, life and death.
What's left behind the scenes
- In Alfonso Cuarón's dramatic techno-thriller "Gravity" (2013), there is a scene in which Sandra Bullock's character finds herself on a deserted Russian "Soyuz" spacecraft. She is preparing to face death when a man's voice suddenly comes over the radio, speaking in an unfamiliar language. Despite the language barrier, she chats with the man and hears the barking of a dog and the crying of a child. All of this leads to this short film, a spin-off of "Gravity," which shows this conversation from the perspective of the man whose voice she hears on the radio.
