The Hills Run Red

A young horror fan named Tyler is determined to track down a notorious slasher film that disappeared decades ago. The movie, called The Hills Run Red, was never finished, and its director vanished along with the footage. Tyler, his girlfriend Serina, and their friend Lalo set out to find the director's daughter, Alexa, hoping she can lead them to the abandoned shooting locations deep in the woods. What they discover there is that the killer from the film, a figure wearing a porcelain mask, was never a work of fiction.

Dave Parker directed this 2009 horror thriller, his first feature and the earliest of the three films he has directed. The screenplay was written by David J. Schow, John Carchietta and John Dombrow, with Joel Silver among the producers. Sophie Monk plays Alexa, Tad Hilgenbrink plays Tyler, and William Sadler appears as Wilson Wyler Concannon, alongside Janet Montgomery, Alex Wyndham and Ewan Bailey. The production, a collaboration between Warner Premiere and Dark Castle Entertainment, was shot in Bulgaria and runs 81 minutes.

Audience response has been moderate. On IMDb it holds a rating of 5.4 from around 12,000 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.8 from a much smaller pool of 351 votes. The two scores are close, suggesting a consistent if unenthusiastic reception among the viewers who have sought it out.
