Teacher's Pet

Teacher's Pet centres on Spot, a dog who can talk, read and write, and who wants nothing more than to be a real boy. He learns that a scientist, Dr. Ivan Krank, claims he can grant such a wish, so Spot sets off across the country with his owner and best friend Leonard and Leonard's mother. Dr. Krank's experiments, however, do not go as planned, and it falls to Leonard and his animal companions to set things right. The story grows out of the television series of the same name, following Spot's habit of passing himself off as a human pupil named Scott.

The film is directed by Timothy Bjorklund from a screenplay by Cherie Steinkellner and Bill Steinkellner, and produced by Stephen Swofford. Nathan Lane voices Spot and his human aliases, with Kelsey Grammer as Dr. Krank, Shaun Fleming as Leonard, Debra Jo Rupp as Leonard's mother, David Ogden Stiers as Mr. Jolly and Jerry Stiller as Pretty Boy; twenty-three cast members are credited in all. It runs seventy-four minutes and was made for about ten million dollars.

Released in January 2004, the film returned roughly six million dollars worldwide against its budget. On TMDB it holds a rating of 6.1 from 43 votes.
