Short description
Two military men, Rock Reilly and Eddie Devane, are assigned to transport a prisoner to a naval base. Their mission becomes complicated when they discover the captive is Toni Johnson, a woman who uses her cunning to try and escape her guards during the journey.
Directed by Dennis Hopper, this film followed his work on Catchfire in his directorial chronology. The movie stars Tom Berenger, William McNamara, and Erika Eleniak, with supporting roles played by Crispin Glover, Matthew Glave, and Grand L. Bush. Produced by James G. Robinson and released through Warner Bros. Pictures and Morgan Creek, the project had a budget of 15 million USD but earned 2 million USD at the worldwide box office.
The film received mixed to low scores from both viewers and professional reviewers. It holds a 4.1/10 rating from 6 reviews by film critics. Audience reception was slightly higher, with a 5.2/10 rating on IMDb based on 7,700 votes and a 5.4/10 rating on TMDB from 181 votes.
What's left behind the scenes
- The ship passing under the bridge in the climactic scene is the USS CARR (FFG 52).
- At the beginning of the film, a strong emphasis is placed on the fact that, according to established laws, a female prisoner must be escorted by women. However, at the end, when she is handed over to the custody of the Navy, she is again accompanied by two men.
- When Eddie returns to the hotel room drunk, a microphone reflection can be seen in the mirror.
- Towards the end of the film, in the bar scene, Rock's beer and cigarettes appear and disappear with each cut.
- When the van starts to roll backwards off the volcano on the miniature golf course, a metal rod holding it up can be seen underneath.
- Interior scenes of the Navy offices and warehouse were filmed on the grounds of the Square D facility in Columbia, South Carolina. Employees of the facility were used as extras.
