Asylum

Set in the English countryside during the 1950s, this drama follows Stella, the wife of a psychiatrist who has taken a leadership role at a mental institution. While living on the hospital grounds with her husband and son, Stella develops an intense attraction to Edgar, a patient and former sculptor. Edgar was committed to the facility after killing and disfiguring his wife in a fit of jealousy. Their relationship evolves into a dangerous affair that puts Stella at risk, especially after Edgar manages to escape the asylum.

The film was directed by David Mackenzie, marking his second feature following Young Adam. The cast features Natasha Richardson as Stella, Hugh Bonneville as her husband Max, and Ian McKellen as Dr. Peter Cleave. Produced by companies including Paramount Vantage and Zephyr Films, the movie is a co-production between the United Kingdom, Ireland, and the United States.
