Thinking XXX

Thinking XXX is a documentary built around a photographic project by Timothy Greenfield-Sanders. He photographed thirty performers from the adult film industry twice in the same pose, once dressed and once nude, for a book. The film follows those photo sessions and pairs them with interviews in which the performers talk about their work. A group of writers, among them John Waters, also appears to offer commentary. The conversations range across the business side of the industry, attitudes toward nudity and exhibitionism, the performers' careers, and their private lives.

Greenfield-Sanders directed and produced the film, with Evan Schechtman and Zennia M. Barahona also producing for Perfect Day Films. The credited cast numbers thirty-one, with Jenna Jameson, Ron Jeremy, Tera Patrick, Belladonna, Sunrise Adams and Briana Banks among those playing themselves. Running under an hour, the film was released in the United States in October 2004 and remains a compact, interview-driven portrait rather than a conventional narrative.

Audience response has been moderate. On IMDb it holds a rating of 6.1 from about 1,150 votes, while on TMDB it sits at 5.5 from roughly 104 votes, suggesting a small but somewhat divided viewership.
