Dragon Ball Z: Cooler's Revenge follows Goku after his victory over Frieza, as he returns to Earth and takes Gohan and Krillin on a camping trip. The peace does not last: Cooler, Frieza's brother, arrives with his henchmen to settle the score for his sibling's defeat. The fight that follows pushes Goku to his limits, and it is only by transforming into a Super Saiyan that he can stand against Cooler's transformed state.
The film was directed by Mitsuo Hashimoto, who had previously made Dragon Ball Z: Bardock - The Father of Goku and went on to direct Dragon Ball Z: Lord Slug the same year, among later entries in the series. Takao Koyama wrote the screenplay, and the voice cast includes Masako Nozawa as Goku, Gohan and Bardock, alongside Toshio Furukawa, Mayumi Tanaka, Naoki Tatsuta, Naoko Watanabe and Kohei Miyauchi.
Released in Japan in July 1991, the film runs 48 minutes and was produced by Toei Animation and Toei Company. It took about 16 million dollars worldwide. On IMDb it holds a rating of 7 out of 10 from roughly 9,500 votes, and on TMDB it also stands at 7 out of 10 from around 764 votes, indicating a consistent response across both audiences.
