Miracles: The Canton Godfather
Short description
Charlie arrives in Hong Kong hoping for a fresh start, but swindlers take nearly everything he has. With his last coins he buys a rose from an elderly street vendor, and soon afterward he stumbles into a shootout between two criminal clans. He pulls a wounded boss from the gunfire, and the dying man names Charlie his successor as head of the organization.
Charlie would rather run a legitimate business, and he turns the gang's nightclub into a respectable venue, with the singer Yang Luming as its star attraction. He credits his run of good fortune to the roses sold by Lady Rose, so when she needs help, he uses his resources to stage an elaborate deception for her daughter's wealthy future in-laws. A persistent police inspector and a rival boss complicate matters.
Jackie Chan directed and stars as Charlie, with Anita Mui, Gua Ah-leh, Richard Ng, Ko Chun-Hsiung and Sunny Fang Kang in supporting roles. It was his ninth directing credit out of fourteen, made between Police Story 2 and Operation Condor, and it carries the large-scale period production values associated with Golden Harvest. The film grossed about 4 million USD worldwide and holds a 6.9/10 rating on IMDb from roughly 6,000 votes and a 7.1/10 rating on TMDB from 187 votes. On IMDb the audience score is lower than the 7.1/10 critics' rating from five reviews.

- While performing a somersault over a rickshaw, Jackie Chan suffered a deep cut to his left eye.
